An Introduction

Allow me to introduce myself.

I live in a small Southern Ohio town, my hometown. I reside in a house built in 1905 by my maternal grandmother’s aunt & uncle. It’s comfortable and it’s home.

I teach in a small Northeast Kentucky town, just a quick drive across the Ohio River. I’m a high school social studies teacher, 15 year veteran. My credentials include a Bachelor of Arts-International Relations, Bachelor of Science-Social Sciences, Masters of Arts-Teaching, Masters of Education-Classroom Training, Educational Specialist-Instructional Supervision, and I’m a Doctoral Student.

In December 2015, I was introduced to Global Nomads Group (an organization I will speak about in future posts) and things started to fall into place. Little did I know the opportunities that would be in store for me and my students.

I’ve always had a curiosity, an interest, in world countries, cultures, and history. That winter meeting began a journey that has allowed me to not only feed that interest but share it within my classroom. It is my hope that I’ve fostered a growing curiosity in my students.

My goal on this platform is to share ways for teachers to incorporate global learning and education in their classrooms. Some ways are free or at a small cost. Others have fees, but many provided financial assistance. My hope is that I can help others expand their classroom walls and student horizons.

I am projected to complete my doctorate in Fall 2023. My dissertation process begins Summer 2022. And as you may guess, it will focus on global education. Specifically, creating a global certification that will accommodate my school district and other similar districts.

I look forward to sharing with you.
